This page is dedicated to any Old Talgarthians who have left the
Talgarth area and set out to make their way elsewhere:
to those who have moved to other areas in Britain or even further afield.
Over generations, many people who were born or grew up in the
area have moved away due to work, family, or other reasons and
have spread to all parts of the UK, and indeed the World. Many Agricultural workers
emigrated and took up
offers of assisted passage schemes to countries including
Canada and the USA in the 17th and 18th centuries; later on,
others have simply seen Australia as a place for a new home and
a new life.
With the emergence of the Internet, families in
any country can set out, using online census records, to plot their family trees. In this area we have the
Powys Family History Society as a good reference point to start
to research.
If any Sons and Daughters of Talgarth, or even their Descendants, would like to
email us with an update of where they are now living and a few
memories or stories of past generations, we would be very
grateful and will periodically update any we receive on to this
page, and plot on the World map above, where their new homes
are.
