The history of
Talgarth continues to unfold...
 |
As you are
aware, history is made every day, so periodically we
will update you on recent events in the Talgarth and
District area. We are grateful for new material to be sent in
from anyone.

August
2008: Work done on the repair of the Old Tower Bridge. The
bridge is believed to have been built in the 12th century at the
same time that the tower was constructed. As can be seen from
the pictures below, taken by Robert Eckley, the
bridge seems to have been built in two sections. It was
only uncovered for a few days, but we were fortunate
enough to record the event.

The restoration process of
Talgarth Mill has started, the first phase of which is the reroofing with original stone
tiles, of the roof. It is hoped that the
mill leat will be reopened and the mill wheel and
workings be reinstated. Please keep an eye
on this page for further updates on this exciting
project.
